Booking a Consultation

What is a Consultation?

Before receiving abortion treatment, a consultation will always take place. Appointments for consultations allow time to discuss available treatments. A clinical evaluation is part of the consultation process to determine the safest and best abortion choice for you.

Our teams are kind, perceptive, and impartial. We are here to provide medical guidance, details on available abortion alternatives, and support throughout the course of therapy. We won’t try to change your mind or coerce you into choosing us. Do not hesitate to ask questions if there is anything you do not understand. We are available to you.

What Happens at a Consultation?

Talk About Pregnancy Options

You should make your own decision. This is a decision that you should be free to make without feeling pressured or coerced.

We can discuss the two methods of abortion care: surgical abortion and medical abortion (abortion pills).

You have to notify your doctor or midwife right away if you choose to carry the pregnancy to term. Getting prenatal care is crucial if you plan to continue your pregnancy.

Legal Requirements

We’ll inquire as to why you desire an abortion. This is to verify the legal requirements before we may provide treatment. To approve therapy, two physicians from Merlin Women Clinic will go over the consultation notes.

We will also discuss consenting to therapy with you. You must be very certain of your choice. Please ask the nurse any questions you may have concerning the course of treatment.

It’s okay if you’re not sure. It is up to you to decide this. You can schedule an appointment for a later time if you need more time to consider it. We can set up counseling sessions if you think they would help you make a confident choice.

Clinical Assessment

During the consultation, the clinician—a nurse or midwife—will perform a clinical assessment. They will gather details about your health and medical history in order to accomplish this. We will keep all you tell us private.

Consultation Options

There are two kinds of consultations available at Merlin Women Clinic:

This is the best choice if you:

  • Have a busy lifestyle,
  • Cannot get to a clinic easily,
  • Are having medical abortion pills posted to you,
  • Are over the age of 16.

For the phone call, you must be in a peaceful place. Having a pen and paper on hand is helpful for recording the information that the clinician provides. After you are called through by one of our specialists, your appointment will typically last between thirty and forty-five minutes. Individual instances may differ, though, and we ask for your understanding.

The clinician will schedule an appointment or arrange for the delivery of medical abortion pills if you decide to proceed with treatment.

For a face-to-face clinical assessment, the clinician might need to schedule a time for you to visit the clinic. Depending on your present health or medical history, this may be necessary to ensure that you are a good fit for the treatment of your choice.

If you are older than sixteen, you can schedule a consultation over the phone. You can get a consultation in person if you are younger than sixteen.

You can attend one of our clinics for a face-to-face appointment with an expert who will go over your treatment options with you.

There are two types of face-to-face consultation:

  • Consultation before the day of treatment.
  • Same-day abortion consultation and treatment.

Consultation Prior to the Treatment Day

If you want additional time to process the information you were given during the session, this is a suitable alternative. You can schedule a therapy appointment for a later time if you choose to go ahead with the abortion.

After you are called through by one of our specialists, your appointment will typically last between thirty and forty-five minutes. Individual instances may differ, though, and we ask for your understanding.

Same-Day Evaluation and Therapy

You can schedule a face-to-face consultation on the same day as your in-clinic abortion therapy if you are certain that you want to have an abortion and are prepared to proceed.

With this choice, you can visit the clinic for a clinical evaluation and consultation. We can offer you the option to receive therapy that day if it is appropriate for you.

Not every clinic in Merlin Wome offers this option. Learn more about the services that our clinics offer here.
